1) Always plan well and leave at least 20-30 minutes
early. Chart out your route carefully and if you are

2) Take with you some music that will take your mind
off environmental irritants. Other options are to
read, knit, sing, or chant. If you are not driving
yourself use the time to shut your eyes, calm your
mind, and do deep breathing.
3) Shut out the surrounding cacophony and use traveling
time as a time for reflection, to think creatively
and focus on happy thoughts. Avoid thinking of the
day ahead, looking at your watch constantly, or responding
to irritating gestures from passersby or other drivers.
4) If you are flying, pack sensibly, consult a list
of items that are banned due to security reasons,
hire a car to drop you so that parking and other problems
don't arise, and learn about how you can clear customs
and security checks without a hitch.
5) Hunger and low sugar can lead to agitation and stress.
So, always eat a light nutritious meal before leaving
your home. Carry a small bottle of juice or water
and a filling snack, these will tide you over if you
are stuck either on the road, in the plane, train,
or bus, or at the airport, bus depot, or station.
Avoid consumption of stimulants like caffeine and
medicines that cause palpitations or discomfort.
6) Devise a simple relaxation routine and a few stretching
exercises to work out kinks.
Dress comfortably and wear sensible shoes. A journey can quickly move from being stress filled to being enjoyable.
